We are all too familiar
with the horror stories concerning chainsaw
accidents causing severe bodily injury and even death every year. Before a
solution to the most common chainsaw hazards can be proposed, we unfortunately
need to know what the most common causes are. This article is intended to raise
awareness concerning chainsaw
safety issues with spring cleanup right around the corner. Once we examine
known safety issues and some of the causes of injury, we can propose to the
reader an alternative method for safer chainsaw usage.
Chainsaws
are powerful and valuable tools. However, despite the benefits of chainsaw use,
the potential for accidents while using a chainsaw is high, and injuries
sustained are usually severe. Consider the following;
Any tool powerful enough to slice through wood can do the same to human flesh,
so chainsaw injuries are often serious.[1] Chainsaw injuries are real, serious,
and costly, and they're going to happen to you, unless you are experienced, or
you have familiarized yourself with proper saw operation.[2] In light of the
fast-moving chain and the workplaces in which they are used, chainsaw injuries
are quite common.[3] Chainsaw injuries are among the most frequent sights in
emergency rooms following severe weather outbreaks, such as hurricanes or tornadoes.[4]
Although some chainsaw injuries are caused by operator error, kickback is the
greatest cause of chainsaw injuries.
"The electric pole saw exceeded my expectations. The best part is I didn't have to pay anyone at the end of the day."
Bill-Pensacola, FL
"This is the best pole saw that I have ever used, and the best pole saw attachments that have made my job so much easier and less costly. An added plus that I did not expect from this pole saw was no more back strain and my shoulders no longer ache from using my old shorter pole saws. The added height benefit is huge!"
